... drawing more and more. A friend of mine (Fat Dennis from
666 in Amsterdam) who was tattooing himself asked me why I didn't
try tattooing. So I decided to give it a go. After half a year
of practising in my own living room doing major crap on friends
(who are no longer my friends anymore...just kidding) I've been
offered the opportunity to come and work in a studio in Utrecht
(Skin Art) owned by Red Frans. This was spring 1994. That's
how I got to know Greg Ory (Dragon Tattoo in Eindhoven) who
is a really good friend of Frans. He thought me just about everything
I needed to know about tattooing and for that he got my greatest
respect for I didn't have an apprenticeship in his studio! Halfway
through 1997 I decided to stand on my own two feet and to open
a studio in Rotterdam, my hometown. So in April 1998 I opened
my own studio and baptised it: "The Inkstitution Tattooing".
